Sicily
Sicily: A paradise to the South of Italy and the largest Mediterranean island. Etna, Taormina and Syracuse offer colorful refuges for the soul and body. The endless fractals of the coasts of Sicily are a challenge to human rationality.
Sicily the crossroads for Greeks and Romans, Phoenicians and Carthaginians, Christians and Muslims will remind one of days gone by. This combination of sea and volcano, mountains and forests make an interesting backdrop to a strenuous bicycle ride.
This dazzling diversity is also repeated in the architecture of Palermo: Founded by the Phoenicians in 734 BC – with a Greco-Roman overlay, displays Arab domes and arches, Byzantine mosaics, Norman palace walls and Baroque palaces.
