The Desolation and Devastation of Sde Dov - May 2020

Panorama from Sde Dov, looking South - May 2020
Sde Dov had an illustrious past
(see: Blog on Dov Hoz and Sde Dov) and quite an uncertain future.
Officially, Dov Hoz Airport was officially closed the 30th June 2019 to make way to high rise towers and hotels. Hangars, runways, workshops and terminals were dismantled – the only structure left, at present, is the control tower. Then came Corona – work on the new neighborhood stopped, demolition crews were sent home and tractors, cranes and other heavy machinery stored safely; out of harm’s way.
"רָבָא אָמַר, פִּרְצָה קוֹרֵאת לַגַּנָּב"
(סוכה כו א)
"Rabba said: A loophole cries out for a thief"
(Babylonian Talmud, Tractate: Sukha 26 A)
Not only were the workers removed and security lax, a big gap opened in the old security fence – this is an opportunity that should not be missed – in a few months all this area will be a closed and shuttered building site and later a built up neighborhood. My first foray was intuitive – more like a reflex – I entered without my cameras – just with my i-phone. The next sortie was more professional, at least with a respectable if qiute small (Lumix -Panasonic-LX100) camera.
Below are some of the results...
